👕 Dress Code
Proper dance attire allows instructors to safely monitor technique and helps students feel prepared for class.
Students are expected to:
Wear the required attire for their class.
Have the appropriate dance shoes.
Have all required dancewear by October 1.
Wear hair securely pulled back (ballet classes require a bun; other classes require a ponytail or other secure hairstyle).
Remove jewelry before class.
Wear appropriate cover-ups when entering and leaving the studio.
Ballet
The foundation of all great dancing. The program will follow the Royal Academy of Dance program; which besides ballet involves free movement.
Attire:
Top: ABC Black leotard
Bottom: Pink tights
Shoes: Pink ballet shoes or Pointe shoes
Hair: Neatly in a bun
Pointe
Available to dancers who have achieved the necessary strength in Ballet; this course concentrates on the transference of Ballet steps from demi-pointe to pointe. Acceptance is by approval of Mrs. Zerbino only.
Attire:
Top: ABC Pink leotard
Bottom: Pink tights
Shoes: Pink ballet shoes
Hair: Neatly in a bun
Jazz
Jazz is strong precise movements and contractions of the body to the music with a beat. Influences of Broadway, theater, mime, and today’s modern style.
Attire:
Top: ABC Leotard, or ABC sports bra
Bottom: Footless or convertible tights; Opt. Shorts
Shoes: Jazz shoes
Hair: Neatly in a bun or ponytail
Tap
Tap dancing is a series of regulated and controlled rhythmical movements of the body and feet, teaching the student a sense of rhythm, balance, and coordination.
Attire:
Top: ABC Leotard, or ABC sports bra
Bottom: Footless or convertible tights; Opt. Shorts
Shoes: Tap shoes
Hair: Neatly in a bun or ponytail
Acro
Acrobatics is a combination of flexibility and gymnastics, with the free moving, fluid style of jazz. It teaches control, endurance, pliability, form and beauty of body.
Attire:
Top: ABC Black leotard
Bottom: Footless or convertible tights; Jazz pants/shorts optional
Shoes: Jazz shoes, foot
Hair: Neatly in a bun or ponytail
Hip Hop
Hip Hop is a combination of jazz techniques and the latest funky moves seen on all of the hottest new music videos. It is an entertaining form of dance.
Attire:
Top: Comfortable (no jeans or school uniform)
Bottom: Comfortable (no jeans or school uniform)
Shoes: Sneakers
Hair: Neatly in a bun or ponytail
Contemporary
Contemporary is a genre of concert dance that employs systems and methods found in modern dance and postmodern dance, as well as classical ballet.
Attire:
Top: ABC Leotard, or ABC sports bra; no t-shirts
Bottom: Footless or convertible tights; shorts optional (no pants)
Shoes: Pirouettes or Barre foot
Hair: Neatly in a bun or ponytail
Lyrical
Lyrical is a fusion of ballet and jazz dance techniques. Lyrical dance challenges choreographers and dancers to use motion to interpret music and express emotion.
Attire:
Top: ABC Black leotard
Bottom: Pink tights
Shoes: Pirouettes
Hair: Neatly in a bun
Turns & Jumps
Turn and Jumps is a class designed for dancers to work on a variety of turns and jumps technique. Appropriate for beginner and advanced dancers.This class will offer simple steps for the beginner level and more complex combinations for the advanced level. All students increase core and leg strength, develop balance and learn correct arm, foot and spinal positions.
