👨‍👩‍👧 Parent Information & Studio Guidelines

Helping Every Dancer Have a Positive Experience

At ABC Dance Company, our goal is to provide a safe, organized, and encouraging environment where every dancer can learn, grow, and thrive. The following guidelines are designed to help classes run smoothly while ensuring the best possible experience for our students and families.

Please note that these guidelines are intended as a helpful overview. Complete enrollment terms and policies are provided during the registration process.

📅 Attendance & Make-Up Classes

Regular attendance is essential for steady progress and helps dancers build confidence, improve their technique, and prepare for performances.

If your dancer is unable to attend class, please notify the studio as soon as possible.

Make-Up Classes

  1. Make-up classes may be scheduled within 30 days of an absence.

  2. Classes are subject to availability.

  3. Make-up classes are not guaranteed and do not have monetary value.

👕 Dress Code

Proper dance attire allows instructors to safely monitor technique and helps students feel prepared for class.

Students are expected to:

  1. Wear the required attire for their class.

  2. Have the appropriate dance shoes.

  3. Have all required dancewear by October 1.

  4. Wear hair securely pulled back (ballet classes require a bun; other classes require a ponytail or other secure hairstyle).

  5. Remove jewelry before class.

  6. Wear appropriate cover-ups when entering and leaving the studio.

🩰 Class Placement

To provide the best learning experience for every dancer, class placement is determined by ABC Dance Company instructors based on a combination of:

  1. Age

  2. Technical ability

  3. Previous dance experience

  4. Overall class readiness

Our goal is to ensure each dancer is placed in an environment where they can be both challenged and successful.

👨‍👩‍👧 Parent Information

Parent Viewing

To minimize distractions and encourage student independence, parents are not permitted inside classrooms during regular classes unless invited for designated observation days or special events.

Drop-Off & Pick-Up

Students may arrive no more than 10 minutes before their scheduled class and should be picked up promptly after class concludes.

Communication

Important studio announcements are shared through:

  1. Email

  2. Text Messages (SMS)

  3. Parent Portal

  4. Social Media

We encourage all families to review communications regularly to stay informed about studio events, important dates, and upcoming activities.

🌩 Weather & Emergency Closures

In the event of severe weather or unforeseen circumstances affecting studio operations, updates will be communicated through our email, text messaging system, parent portal, and social media channels.

🎭 Performances

Performance opportunities are one of the highlights of the dance season!

Students participating in performances may be required to purchase costumes and pay applicable recital or performance fees. Families will receive detailed information regarding costumes, rehearsals, performance schedules, and important deadlines throughout the season.

Regular attendance is encouraged to help dancers feel confident and prepared for their performances.

💖 Studio Expectations

We strive to create a welcoming and respectful environment where every dancer feels safe, supported, and encouraged.

We ask that all students:

  1. Treat instructors, classmates, and studio property with kindness and respect.

  2. Arrive on time and ready to learn.

  3. Keep personal electronic devices put away during class unless authorized by an instructor.

  4. Demonstrate positive sportsmanship and teamwork.

Together, we can create a positive dance experience for every student.

📷 Photography & Video

Throughout the season, ABC Dance Company may capture photos and videos during classes, performances, competitions, and special events for use in promotional materials, social media, and our website.

Families who prefer that their dancer not appear in promotional media may notify the studio in writing.

🎁 Trial Classes

New students are invited to experience ABC Dance Company through a complimentary trial class.

Trial classes are:

  1. Limited to one per student per class type.

  2. Subject to class availability.

  3. A wonderful opportunity to meet our instructors and experience our programs before enrolling.
